My freshman year roommate, Mary.
As I was searching for a good way to preface this post, I came across a quote that said, ‘keep calm and vent to your roommate’. I think this very well describes how Mary and I live. No, we’re not best friends. No, we’re not the roommate ‘goals’. However, we like what we have, plain old companionship. It is easy to get caught up in dreaming of the perfect roommate with whom you will be best friends forever. Those chances are smaller than getting struck by lightning.
Mary is a Hmong-American hailing from Forest Lake, Minnesota. Her main reason for coming to CSS was money. As in, the college gave her a lot of scholarships for her grades so on and so forth. Her major is Biochemistry hoping to go into Pharmacy. The thing she likes best about CSS is Tower Hall because it’s pretty. She spends most of her time doing homework. watching Thai Dramas and watching various YouTube videos. She also cooks often in the floor kitchen making various Asian recipes that make the room smell very good and me, hungry.
We get along well because we stay out of each others space except when asked. We always ask to eat food or borrow various makeup items. We both do not go out much and just enjoy being in the room on campus. We’ll gossip to one another and talk about things happening back at home but I think we would both agree, we’re not best friends.
