The oil refinery in Superior, Wisconsin erupted in flames earlier today and had a wide evacuation area as the black smoke spread.
The students of University of Wisconsin-Superior were evacuated from their campus earlier today. 100 of their students were sent to CSS to sleep on cots for the night provided by the American Red Cross. Being that one of the core values we hold here at CSS is hospitality, it is no surprise that CSS came through. We as students were asked to house one or more UWS students for the night. According to my friends, they had a waiting list for students willing to take others in as CSS opened their doors to the newcomers.
I, on the other hand, was contacted by a friend I had not really stayed in touch with since middle school. She exclaimed how she was on my campus for the night and I asked her if she needed a place to stay. We have reconnected over the past few hours as I rolled out my air mattress for her to use.
Happy ending to a sad story
